Privacy Policy for Branah Keyboard on iOS

Branah Keyboard does not collect anything you type. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code of any kind. Nothing you type leaves your device.

What the keyboard can and cannot do

iOS keyboards can request a permission called Full Access, which is what allows a keyboard to use the network. Branah never requests it. The setting does not appear for this keyboard because the keyboard declares that it does not want it.

Without Full Access, iOS does not permit the keyboard to make any network connection — and independently of that, the keyboard contains no networking code at all. There is no path, permitted or otherwise, by which what you type could be sent anywhere.

What is stored on your device

Words you add. When you tap a suggestion for a word that is not already in the dictionary, the keyboard remembers it so it can suggest it again. These words are stored in a file inside the keyboard's own private storage on your device. They are never transmitted. Deleting the app deletes them.

Your settings. The languages and layouts you enable, and the options you choose, are stored on your device so the keyboard and the app agree about them.

Nothing in either category is sent anywhere, and neither is readable by other apps.

Dictionary downloads

Some languages offer word suggestions or convert what you type — Chinese, Japanese and Korean need a dictionary to do it. Those dictionaries are large, so rather than include every one in the app, the app downloads only the ones you enable, using Apple's On-Demand Resources.

This is a download, not an upload. The request is for a dictionary by name; it carries nothing about you and nothing you have typed. It is handled by Apple, and goes to Apple's servers rather than ours. Disabling a language removes its dictionary from your device.

Every language types without any download. Only suggestions and conversion depend on one.

What we do not do

• No tracking of any kind, across apps or otherwise
• No data sold, shared or disclosed to anyone, because none is collected

Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
